Single-Bar Facemasks Banned by NFL

Were you aware that the NFL has banned single-bar facemasks? Actually, the league banned the facemask four years ago, but players who were wearing it before the ban were allowed to continue wearing it. Yeah, beats me, too. So, former Arizona Cardinals punter Scott Player was pretty much the only one with this classic, throwback look. Now, Scott can still wear the single-bar facemask, but it must be secured on his helmet with at least two screws on each side as required by the manufacturer’s warranty on the helmet. Which kind of defeats his purpose because he likes to swivel his facemask down around his chin. Look at the photo of that sorry thing. It’s like he has a bucket on his head. So, the single bar facemask is out. Scott Player is looking for work. And somewhere Joe Theismann and Garo Yepremian are gasping.
