Report: Kevin Everett Has Voluntary Movement in His Arms and Legs

Some incredible news being reported by a Buffalo television station today. WIVB-TV reported that injured Buffalo Bills TE Kevin Everett had voluntary movement in his arms and legs today. And the MRI scan taken after his surgery showed only a small amount of swelling in his spinal cord. These are both positive signs and this is a dramatic improvement over the prognosis given just yesterday at a Buffalo Bills news conference. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Andrew Cappuccino said yesterday that Kevin suffered a “catastrophic” and life-threatening spinal-cord injury in Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. He said Kevin’s chances of regaining a full range of body motion were not very likely. But tonight, Dr. Cappuccino was much more optimistic saying, in-part, “We may be witnessing a minor miracle.” No miracles are minor. Please continue to keep Kevin in your prayers.

Kevin’s mom, Patricia Dugas, asked the Bills’ media relations department to release the following statement:

“On behalf of my son and our entire family I want to thank the fans and everyone for their prayers, warm wishes and general thoughts about Kevin. I especially want to thank the hospital staff and the Bills organization for their tremendous support during this difficult and challenging time. I would ask for everyone to continue to keep Kevin in their prayers.”
