Pacman Jones in Trouble Again
Pacman Jones is meeting with Commissioner Goodell today to appeal his one-year suspension. He limps into this meeting with some newfound legal trouble, however. Pacman was stopped at 12:45 a.m. on May 7 on I-65 heading into downtown Nashville after an officer clocked him doing 79 in a 55. He was driving his red 2004 Cadillac XLT he bought at police auction last fall. He also didn’t have his driver’s license. Oops. Like I said a couple days ago when Pacman’s lawyers sent a 24-page report to the league office claiming his suspension was “unprecidented in its severity,” there’s no way this punishment is getting altered from its original issuance. And this latest incident only further solidifies that fate.
I can’t imagine what is going through this guy’s head. Obviously, he just doesn’t “get it.” With his career in serious jeopardy and an appeal just days away, he decides to drive more than 20 mph over the speed limit without a license. It’s not like he murdered someone, but he broke the law and in his fragile legal condition, he doesn’t want to so much as jaywalk.
