Michael Strahan Considering Retirement
Blogging the National Football League, Blogging the NFL
Michael Strahan didn’t show up for New York Giants training camp today and according to his agent, Tony Agnone, he’s thinking about retiring. The Giants placed Michael on their “reserve-did not report to camp” list, so he’d better make his decision known soon or likely face fines by the Giants for being AWOL.
Is this “holdout” about money? Of course it’s about money. It’s always about money. Michael is scheduled to make $4 million this year. And I’m sure he’d like more in order to put his aging body (two major injuries in the past three years) through the grind of an NFL season again. But if he thinks he’s getting any more than that, from any team, at 35-years-old, he’s got another thing coming. I don’t care how good he thinks he still is. The Giants aren’t going to budge there.
