Former Detroit Lions running back Kevin Jones may be unemployed, but he’s keeping himself busy preparing for his next job. Kevin has been rehabbing his surgically repaired knee (ACL procedure in January) under the supervision of a holistic medicine practitioner and sports agent. And while he has supposedly canceled his scheduled workout for NFL teams (it was slated for this Saturday), he seems to be ahead of the 10-month rehab schedule doctors initially gave him:

“I’ve never worked out like this. And I feel great. I honestly feel like I’m ready to play right now. I think I’ll get signed in the next couple of weeks. But it really doesn’t matter when it is — as long as it’s before the season.”

Kevin seems pretty confident he’ll be with a team shortly, but I beg to differ. By canceling his scheduled workout, I think Kevin’s best chance at NFL employment will now come when a team finds a need based on injury. That cancellation had red flag written all over it. And the ten teams that were reportedly interested in him (New England, Chicago, Green Bay, Tennessee, Tampa Bay, Denver, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Buffalo and the N.Y. Jets) are now going to approach the situation with even more caution.

As it turns out, Kevin did “audition,” but only for four teams — Miami, Green Bay, Pittsburgh and Detroit. Yes, Detroit. The Cleveland Browns also called and asked for a video of the workout. Apparently things went very well and those who watched him were amazed at his recovery in such a short period of time.
