Jones Soda Beats Coca-Cola as Official Seahawks Soft Drink Provider
Blogging the National Football League, Blogging the NFL
In the “Useless Information” category today, Jones Soda, with annual revenue of $39 million in 2006, beat out The Coca-Cola Co. as the sole provider of nonalcoholic beverages at Seattle’s Qwest Field. Coke, which sold $24.09 billion in goods last year, held soft drink pouring rights for the Seahawks from 1977 to 1998 and from 2002 until this year. The ‘Hawks held a press conference today at team HQ in Kirkland, WA to announce the deal. Deion Branch and Josh Brown participated. I don’t know what they said, but I’m sure they got a lifetime supply of carbonated beverages out of it.
Jones Soda probably makes great soft drinks, but some of their flavors are Green Apple and Blue Bubble Gum. Blech! I’d stick with Root Beer or Limes with Orange. Or the 24c vitamin water. Mmmmm. They’ve got many other options and a unique labeling concept (yes, expect to see some Seahawk players on the bottles.) Maybe I can get a little EMQB endorsement deal going. All this blogging is making me thirsty.
