Detroit Lions Set Fourth Quarter Record

by David Kindervater on September 30th, 2007

Blogging the National Football League, Blogging the NFL

It was the kind of game the Detroit Lions used to lose as they put together one of the worst six-season stretches in NFL history — with at least 10 losses from 2001-2006. Even after last week’s loss to the Eagles, I was left wondering. Are these the same-old Lions? And after the first three quarters of today’s 37-27 win over the Chicago Bears, I was left wondering. Are these the same old Lions? Well, they blew up the 4th quarter in NFL record-breaking fashion, scoring 34 points in handing the Bears their third loss of the season. Detroit, on the other hand, is 3-1 for the first time since 2004, having already matched the number of wins it had last season in Rod Marinelli’s first year as head coach. There’s no telling how far a win like this will take the team. The Lions are for real.
