Commissioner Targets Concussions
Commissioner Goodell has ordered that medical personnel (doctors and trainers) from each NFL team must attend a meeting on concussions next month in Chicago. The Commissioner announced last week that baseline neuropsychological tests will be mandatory for the 2007 season. That means all players will be required to take a test determining cognitive abilities, memory and motor skills before the start of the 2007 season. That way, if a player has a concussion, he can be tested to determine what neurological changes have taken place. I’m impressed with the Commissioner’s efforts to take care of the players that make the game what it is. He said:
