Colts, Saints to Open 2007 Season

by David Kindervater on March 26th, 2007

The NFL’s 2007 Kickoff Weekend will be highlighted by a Thursday night game featuring the Saints and Colts. As the tradition has been since 2004, the Super Bowl champs will host the following season’s Thursday night Kickoff game. I think the Saints are a great opponent for the Colts to start the season. After a surprising 2006, we’ll find out if New Orleans can keep the momentum going. Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison. There will be plenty of superstars in the RCA Dome this night. Rounding out the weekend: Sunday on Fox, the Bears at Chargers; Sunday night on NBC, the Giants at Dallas; and Monday Night’s ESPN doubleheader (with Ron Jaworski replacing Joe Theismann) will be the Ravens at Cincinnati and the Cards at San Francisco. I’m staying up to watch the AZ/SF game. These are two of my sleeper picks in 2007. I think both teams will stand a good chance to make the playoffs.

The Thanksgiving Day triple-header was also announced: Packers at Lions; Jets at Dallas; and Indy at Atlanta, in that order.
