Brett Favre’s Farewell?
Did you happen to see the Packers’ drubbing of the Bears on New Year’s Eve? I’m as tired as anyone of the endless Brett Favre retirement tour, but it sure sounded like his last hurrah as he gave an uncertain response to NBC’s Andrea Kremer after the game with “Auld Lang Syne” playing over the Soldier Field P.A. My gut feeling is that he will be back, though. He once again cancelled a scheduled surgery on his ankle. He has done this for seven straight years. And the Pack appears close to “turning the corner,” taking their playoff hopes all the way to the final game this season. I think Brett senses that. Plus, his ability to lead this team really shouldn’t be questioned after this past season (not stellar, but still getting it done). I expect one more season and one more season only from #4.
