Brett Favre and Madden NFL 09

I spoke with Katherine Coulthart, senior publicist and my media relations contact at EA Sports today, and she gave me the following information regarding Brett Favre and Madden NFL 09:
“Madden NFL 09 will hit stores on August 12 with Brett Favre on the cover in his Green Bay Packers uniform. We do not plan to re-issue packaging, but will offer a free downloadable cover in the coming days on easports.com featuring Brett Favre in a Jets uniform. Fans can print this new cover and insert it into the case of Madden NFL 09. What’s most important is what’s in the game, and we’ll have a roster update available on August 11 with Brett Favre on the N.Y. Jets. The game ships with Brett on an all-time greats team, but with the roster update that will be downloadable when product is available at retail, Brett Favre will be the starting QB for the New York Jets.”
I guess from a marketing perspective, it would have been nice if Brett would’ve made this decision in March a couple weeks ago, but what can you do? Look for my interview with Madden NFL 09 producer Ryan Ferwerda on Tuesday, August 12, the aforementioned official retail launch date for the game. Somehow I think we’ll work Brett Favre into the conversation.

Im So excited about madden 09 this year with favre on the cover, I’ve been playing this game since it came out! That’s a good idea with the printable cover and the updated jets roster, I was wondering how they were going to do that. Packers scrood up bad, rogers still has some growing to do, before they get to the superbowl! I’m still a greenbay fan I’ll always be! Favre is my number one! And I’m with him and I’m 120% supprting him!!!!

You know Brett Favre has been on every Madden since the NFL players license came out. Madden NFL 94 was the first Madden that had the real players names and teams with their team logos. My favorite team is Dallas Cowboys. But, Ive always been a big Brett Favre fan in real life, and he has always been sick on Madden!!

no created playbook….. and on headcoach you have to choose from a list of basic routes instead of drawing up your play from scratch like on Madden 2005…. therefore, 09 sucks except for the graphics… Madden 2005 is still the best ever.. i update the rosters myself every year on the game. maybe one day EA will care about Madden again… like they did in 2005.
save your 60 bucks… just rent it and you’ll thank me. hear me now and believe me later.
