Adrian Peterson Questionable, NFL’s Top Rusher Might Play vs. N.Y. Giants

Blogging the National Football League, Blogging the NFL

I received the NFL’s latest injury report and Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is surprisingly listed as questionable for tomorrow’s game against the N.Y. Giants. But the Vikes would be crazy to let him play. Coming off a torn PCL two weeks ago in an embarrasing 34-0 loss to the Green Bay Packers, the injury didn’t need surgery, just time to heal. Consider that enormous blessing and listen to it. I would be shocked if the Vikings rushed him back (no pun intended) to help salvage their slim-to-none playoff chances at 4-6. I mean, I’m not writing the Vikings off just yet, but the only reason for bringing AD back this week would be for individual honors (of which he has the potential for many). It would be just plain foolish to jeopardize his career for the sake of any accolades, no matter how impressive they may be. I think the Vikings should be extra careful in bringing Adrian back and give his knee time to completely heal. Despite missing last week, AD leads the entire NFL in rushing yards and is still eyeing Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record among other awards. I know those are tempting goals to be so within reach of, but the future of the player and the future of the team must come first.
