Adrian Peterson Named Top Offensive Rookie, Landslide Win for Vikings RB

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson was named the Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie-of-the-Year today. Big surprise. Adrian rolled up 1,341 yards in 14 games, averaging a whopping 5.6 ypc. He had a great year with two monster games, but the rest of the league caught up to him before the Vikings could complete a playoff run. His last four games — a total of 144 yards rushing. Uggh. The reason? Minnesota’s inability to do any damage through the air. And until they replace Tarvaris Jackson as their quarterback, things probably won’t get much better for AD. I thought the light had come on, so to speak, for TJack, but it looks like the Vikings better do some serious shopping this offseason. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has already been rumored. It’s pretty simple. If the Vikes find a passing game, they will be serious contenders in 2008.
