2007 NFL Schedule Announced
This is a day NFL fans have circled on their calendar each year — the announcement of the current year’s NFL schedule. Of course, we already knew who our favorite teams were playing in 2007. But until now, and aside from the nationally televised Kickoff Weekend and Thanksgiving Day games, we didn’t have the full look at when and where these games would be taking place. I’m not going to try to analyze each team’s schedule. What I will do is create a link to the full menu so you can check them out for yourself. And I’ll list some of my favorite matchups below (in no particular order). Remember, this will be the second season of flex scheduling, which allows the league to schedule Sunday night games 12 days ahead in weeks 11 to 17.
- New Orleans at Indianapolis, September 6 - C’mon. It’s the first game of the season! Indy returns to the RCA Dome as the defending Super Bowl champs. Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. Marvin Harrison and Reggie Bush. Two of the best coaches in the game today. This will be an exciting opening matchup.
- New England at Indianapolis, November 4 - This might be the game of the year. Honestly, what game would you rather see? Remember, the Pats are already my Super Bowl XLII favorite and this will be a tough mid-season test.
- Indianapolis at San Diego, November 11 - Ok, I’m assuming Indy is going to be as good as last year. I’m listing all their games. And obviously they have a tough sked. Here’s is the playoff game we never got to see in 2006.
- Pittsburgh at Arizona, September 30 - Pittsburgh at Arizona? Yes. I can’t wait to see the old Steelers vs. the new ones. Ken Whisenhunt and Russ Grimm coaching against their old team. I’m already picking AZ to win this game. They will be MUCH improved in ‘07 and with the motivation of a home Super Bowl, they will at least make the playoffs — finally.
- Philadelphia vs. Dallas, November 4 (at Philly) and December 16 (at Dallas) - Always a great NFC East matchup, even if the T.O. revenge luster has worn off. Ok, so it hasn’t worn off. Either way, these are always good games.
- Dallas at Buffalo, October 8 - A rematch of Super Bowl … No. It’s a Monday Night game in Buffalo! Finally, after 13 years! I’m there.
- Arizona at San Francisco, September 10 - Two upstarts. And both need to get off to a good start. A wild card playoff preview already? Don’t laugh. It might get deeper than that. I’m staying up for this one.
Ok, I could go on and on, but then I would be analyzing every game. I’m already excited to get the season started.
